In late June 2011, I traveled to Chartres France to study the pourpoint attributed to King Charles VI of France. This beautiful red jacket is on display at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Chartres. I spent a morning examining the garment, recording its tailoring and construction secrets. I reconstructed the pourpoint based on my findings and wrote up my research. The resulting paper will be published in a German journal, Waffen- und Kostümekunde, in July 2013. (The paper will be in English.) When the publication becomes available, I will update this site with extensive information about the reconstruction process.
